©2013 UpToDate ® Print Email ACE inhibitors more effective in whites than blacks with heart failure Shown are the rates of hospitalization for heart failure in a matched cohort analysis from the SOLVD trial comparing the responses of black and matched white patients randomly assigned to enalapril or placebo. The rate of hospitalization for heart failure was significantly higher among black than white patients whether treated with enalapril or placebo.
