©2013 UpToDate ® Print Email Amlodipine, lisinopril, and increased risk of HF In the ALLHAT trial, cumulative event rates for the development of heart failure (HF) according to primary treatment with chlorthalidone, amlodipine, or lisinopril. Compared to chlorthalidone, there were significant increases in the six year rate of HF with both amlodipine (10.2 versus 7.7 percent, relative risk 1.38, 95 percent CI 1.25 to 1.52) and lisinopril (8.7 versus 7.7 percent, relative risk 1.19 95 percent CI 1.07 to 1.31).
