©2013 UpToDate ® Print Email Lisinopril and increased risk of stroke In the ALLHAT trial, cumulative event rates for the development of stroke according to primary treatment with chlorthalidone, amlodipine, or lisinopril. Compared to chlorthalidone, there was a significant increase in the six year rate of stroke with lisinopril (6.3 versus 5.6 percent, relative risk 1.15 95 percent CI 1.02 to 1.30).
