Consider lumbar puncture (for patients able to tolerate procedure), CXR, and other studies (such as bilirubin or arterial blood gas) as indicated by history and physical examination. • Patients who cannot tolerate lumber puncture (LP) should have a blood culture and receive antibiotics. LP should be performed once patient's condition is stabilized.
