©2013 UpToDate ® Print Email Two images from fetal a survey at 20 weeks of gestation in a fetus with amniotic band sequence The first image, which was obtained during a fetal survey, (A) shows an anterior abdominal wall defect adjacent to the cord insertion site, with free floating loops of bowel in the amniotic fluid. This is the appearance of a gastroschisis. The second image (B) shows the leg with a constriction band. There were many other regions of amputations and constriction bands in this fetus, leading to the diagnosis of amniotic band sequence. Courtesy of Deborah Levine, MD.
