©2013 UpToDate ® Print Email Aorta Doppler waveform Laminar, pulsatile flow in the abdominal aorta is recorded with pulsed wave Doppler imaging. The signal demonstrates a narrow envelope during systole. The maximal peak systolic velocity of the flow is approximately 100 cm/sec. Note, however, that the ultrasound beam is not parallel to the flow direction. Reproduced with permission from: Feigenbaum H, Armstrong WF, Ryan T.
