©2013 UpToDate ® Print Email Attenuation of salmeterol effect in exercise-induced bronchoconstriction Percentage fall in FEV1 induced by exercise after the first dose and after four weeks of therapy with placebo or continuous salmeterol (50 µg twice daily). Salmeterol minimized the fall in FEV1 after the first dose compared to placebo but the difference was much smaller and not significant at four weeks. FEV1: forced expiratory volume in one second. Data from Ramage L, Lipworth BJ, Ingram CG, et al, Respir Med 1994; 88:363.
