©2013 UpToDate ® Print Email Bicipital tendinitis confirmed by local anesthetic block The point of needle entry is between the lesser and greater tubercles of the humerus, 1 inch (2.5 cm) below the anterior corner of the acromion. A 1.5 inch (4 cm) 22-gauge needle is inserted perpendicular to the skin to a depth of 1 to 1.5 inches (2.5 to 4 cm), and 1 mL of lidocaine is injected into the deltoid and 1 mL into the bicipital groove.
