The capital femoral epiphysis and physis are supplied by the medial circumflex artery through two retinacular systems: the posterosuperior and posteroinferior. The lateral circumflex artery supplies the greater trochanter and the lateral portion of the proximal femoral physis and a small area of the anteromedial metaphysis.
