©2013 UpToDate ® Print Email ECG gating improves the specificity of perfusion imaging Among 115 women undergoing exercise perfusion imaging, the specificity for the diagnosis of significant coronary heart disease, defined as a stenosis >70 percent, with thallium-201 (TI-201) or technetium-99m (Tc-99m) sestamibi was 67 and 84 percent, respectively. Specificity was significantly improved with ECG gated SPECT using Tc-99m sestamibi (92 percent, p = 0.0004). Data from Taillefer, R, Depuey, EG, Udelson, JE, et al, J Am Coll Cardiol 1997; 29:69.
